About Anishka
I started my yoga journey in 1987 to help deal with health issues from my time travelling in India in the 1980s.
I found yoga and meditation not only helped with physical issues but also changed my way of thinking and reacting to life. After ten years of daily practice I completed an IYTA training and became a yoga teacher.
For the past 13 years I have taught yoga and led several workshops and retreats and run a full-time yoga studio. My passion for yoga and its rich philosophy inspired me to practise and study different styles of yoga, including those of Iyengar and Desikachar.
Other teachers with whom I trained or who have influenced my yoga include Angela Farmer, Donna Farhi, John Friend, Eric Schiffmann and my current teacher Judith Lasater who specialises in therapeutic yoga.
I am senior teacher with Yoga Australia. My experience as a registered nurse, health educator and in Pilates have had a strong influence on my understanding and approach to yoga as a healing art form.
